In short: we only collect what you choose to send us, we use it to reply to you and to provide what you asked for, and we do not sell it or trade it. You can ask us at any time what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Rise Today Consulting, founded by Dr. Erica Harris (BHKin, DC, MA Counselling Psychology, RCC). We provide resilience keynote speaking, health coaching and related programs, and we publish the Rise Today Inspirational Podcast and related content.
200–1200 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, British Columbia, V7M 2E8, Canada
Telephone 778-903-2225
We are responsible for the personal information you provide through this website, and we handle it in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
2. What we collect
We collect only the information you type into a form on this site.
- When you send an enquiry: your name, email address, an optional phone number, the topic you selected, and the message you wrote.
- When you join our community list: your email address.
- Automatically, as with any website: our web server keeps standard technical logs, which include the IP address making the request and the time of the request. These are used to keep the site running and secure.
We do not ask for, and this website does not collect, health information, payment card details, or any special category of sensitive personal information. Please do not include clinical or medical details in a website enquiry — a general message is enough to start a conversation.
3. Why we collect it
We use what you send us to reply to you, to arrange or deliver the speaking, coaching or program you asked about, and — if you asked for it — to send you occasional insights, tools and program news. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
Our lawful basis is your consent: you give us the information by choosing to send it. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see Your rights).
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only where it is necessary to operate:
- Our website host and email provider, who store and transmit your message so that it reaches us.
- Our booking platform. When you choose to book a call, you leave this website and the booking is handled on an external scheduling service. Anything you enter there is governed by that provider’s own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law.
5. How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as we may reasonably need them to answer you and to keep a record of our correspondence, and are then deleted. Community-list subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
6. Your rights
You may ask us at any time to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your information;
- stop sending you emails, or withdraw your consent generally.
Write to us at the address or phone number in section 11 and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
7. Cookies and embedded content
This website does not use advertising cookies and does not run advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
Some pages include videos. To protect your privacy, a video is shown as a still image until you click play — nothing is requested from the video provider, and no cookie is set by it, unless and until you choose to start the video. Once you do, that provider’s own privacy policy applies to your viewing.
Where we link out to another website — a news article, a donor registry, a partner organisation — that site has its own privacy policy, and this one does not cover it.
8. Therapy records are handled separately
Rise Today Consulting provides coaching, speaking and programs. It does not provide therapy. Online therapy is provided by Rising Minds Counselling and Psychotherapy, a separate practice, to residents of British Columbia and Ontario.
If you become a therapy client, your clinical records are created and held by that practice under the confidentiality and record-keeping obligations that apply to registered clinicians — not under this website policy. Nothing you send through this website becomes part of a clinical record.
9. Security
Your message is transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored on our website’s server with access limited to those who need it in order to reply to you. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send confidential or clinical information through a website form.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how this website handles personal information — for example, if we add website analytics or an email marketing platform — we will update this policy and change the date at the top of the page.
11. How to reach us
Questions about this policy, or a request about your information, can be sent through our contact page, by telephone on 778-903-2225, or by post to 200–1200 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, British Columbia, V7M 2E8.
